Another Superman nemesis has been named. German actress Antje Traue has been cast as Faora, the villainess in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' "Man of Steel."
Relatively unknown to American audiences, the 30-year-old actress will square off with Henry Cavill, who has previously been named the new Clark Kent/Superman. She made her English-language film debut in the 2009 sci-fi thriller, "Pandorum," alongside Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster.
It is still not clear which one of the multiple Faoras that appeared in the comic book Traue will play. According to Variety, it's more likely that she will portray the Faora who debuted in Action Comics #779 as a Pokolistanian aide of General Zod.
As for General Zod, that role has already been occupied by Oscar nominee Michael Shannon.
Also starring in this Zack Snyder-directed version are Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Clark's adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent. Production will kick off this summer in Chicago for a December 2012 release date.
